Me in a Minute Graph

Today all of the year sixes got into groups of seven to compare their “Me in a Minute” data. We had make line graph with our data and then had to find the mean, average, range, mode and median. Here is the graph below.

While completing this activity I found-

  • That I achieved over the average in things most easily
  • I found out what mean meant (middle number in a range)
  • I found that work out the  medians for each score what not difficult from what I thought it would be.

Practising Goals-

I thought that I set very specific goals but to be honest I only practiced one of them. It was the shooting basketballs from the free throw line. I did that every day after school at my house. It was also weird because even though I only practiced one goal I still achieved more then my last score on all of them.

Role Models

Yesterday we had to list 3 of our role models. I chose Jim, Kylie and  Zac Efron. One could be family, community and international. Then we had to list the all of the qualities on why they are role models. After that we had to pick the best 5 qualities and get into a group and see if they were similar. Our group had to come up with the 5 best qualities. Then we got together as a class and decided the best 4 qualities. They were brave, respectful, inspiring, humorous. Then we got to pick one more that we liked and mine is honesty.

How do I show this at school:

Brave- I’m a house captain and am confident enough to speak in front of a crowd.

Respectful- I’m kind to people especially the preppies. I listen to what they say and help them fix their problems.

Inspiring- Being sporty and doing inter school sports.

Humorous- I make people laugh by telling them jokes.

Honest- I tell my honest opinion to people.

I was amazed at the number of qualities that my role models had.

Oaks Fashion

Today is Oaks Day so all of the year sixes dressed up in their best clothes. We had to pick a partner and describe how they look. Here was my description on my partner Lily.

As you can see the delicate, beautiful Lily walking with her stunning dress. Her lace, black as the night cardigan hangs from her shoulders. Her soft, smooth stripy dress swings from side to side. Her beautiful, shiny pearl bracelet clinging to her wrist. The silver feather ring reflects off the sun as she makes her way back down the path.

We had a cat walk competition between each class and then a final against all classes. Jamie, Ruby and I made it to final from the girls in out class. But in the final I ended up not going because I got too  embarresed because I was going to walk in front of 6 classes.

MAPS

For a long time now we have been given a maths sheet with problem solving questions, equations, etc. Our goal is to get more than 40 questions right. There are 50 questions on a sheet.  We have to record our scores and and then work out the average.

My score sheet

I think I did well because everytime I correct the sheet I get over 40 and my average was over 40 as well. My score on the revision 1 sheet was 46 and that is very good for me because I normally get 42 or 43.

My goal-  my new goal is to get more than 43.5 because I’m always getting around that number. So that means I have to get more than 44 correct. I will do this by not rushing my work so I don’t make those easy mistakes.

Me in a Minute

A couple of weeks ago we did a thing called Me in a Minute. It is when you do an exercise or activity in one minute. You have to get as many of the exercise as you can in a minute. So one of them was how many sit ups you can get in a minute.  My favourite was when we had to run around the oval and get our furthest distance.

My 3 health goals-

By the end I aim to get:

4 basket balls shots, 300m of running and 160 of hitting the ball on a tennis racket. I will do this by practising basket ball shots every night. Practice running 2 times a week, and improve on the bouncing the ball on a tennis racket every night.

Our presentation!!!

Today I gave my presentation on Italy with Beth. At first I was getting very nervous because we mucked up the slides so much. Eventually I got less nervous. My goal was to not speak too fast and I think that I achieved this because when I was talking I made sure I wasn’t speaking too fast.

I think that the biggest impact on Australia from Italy would definitely be the food because pizza and coffee are very popular in Australia and they came from Italy.

Beth and I worked very well together.  When we made mistakes we would help each other fix them. We were very helpful to each other and I think that next time I could be more helpful in the activity.

2 yellow hats-

• I think that everyone loved our activity because they learnt how to make dough and we gave out pizzas. The were all begging for second pieces.

• Also another good thing is that I think that me and Beth both achieved our goals of speaking slowly, clearly and loudly, which is very good for the next time we present something like this.

2 green hats-

• I think that next time we need to be a bit more organised and aware of how many times we need to touch the screen so it changes the slide.

• Maybe for me it would be speaking louder because I was a bit nervous which made me speak a bit quieter.

2 black hats-

• We kept on mucking up with the slides at the start and the whole class were frustrated.

•We didn’t really have a plan on the activity for our presentation so next time we could be more organised.
